Thank YOU for supporting our golf course over the past 5 years through the Golf Course Improvement Committee. We wanted to highlight exactly what has been improved in the past few years.
With your support, and the committee’s hard work, our course has been steadily made improvements that otherwise would not have been possible.
The original Golf Course Improvement Committee (from many years ago) was responsible for building the on-course restrooms, cart paths from tee to green, and the white fencing around the course.
The current Committee started their work in 2019 with the top priority being to improve every bunker which at the time was unplayable. It was a monumental task, and it took time, but we did it.
After that major improvement was completed, our committee prioritized other improvements that needed to be done, and have been completed as well.
The GCI Committee has from the beginning been very frugal with donated money. To save money, our committee members volunteered the “manual labor” on each project while others (mainly Levi Chappell) supplied the heavy machinery help.
Take a look below at all of the projects we have completed on the course since 2019:
GCI Committee
Re-Established
Began planning for 2022 fundraiser tournament to refurbish and complete restoration of the bunkers at Green Hills, as well as establish a Junior Golf Initiative.
Tournament Success
$20,000 raised in the tournament ($16,000 for course improvements and $4,000 for the Junior Golf Initiative). Another $20,000 raised in “like-kind trade” of goods and services, bringing the total close to $40,000.
Refurbished bunkers
8 bunkers were refurbished with drain tile, re-shaped, then filled with new sand. A number of bunkers were abated and re-seeded during this transition. GCI will continue to add sand every year and see areas to enhance the course for all play.
Other Updates
$2,500 spent on the concrete pad for the driving range tee line to accommodate players (mainly high school and junior players during the early wet season when the range would’ve been closed). Lastly, we replaced the motor in the well on #12 and repaired/replaced the pump to add water to the pond on 15 for irrigation.
